Testing: NYX Dewy Setting Spray

The Nyx Dewy Setting Spray is a tried and tested product for me, tested at a busy wedding, a 14 hour day and in 30 degree weather. So let’s get into whether or not this product does its job!

Nyx describe the finishing spray as 'lightweight and comfortable whilst working hard to make sure your makeup stays put’. The bottle promises two things, a dewy finish and hold your makeup into place - every time I use this product it does both.

I tend to use a few quirts to cover my face, around 4-5. The nozzle is great as it gives an even spritz, it releases a good amount of product, not too much and not too little. Once sprayed onto the face it takes around a minute to dry.

Once it does dry it leaves a sheen to the face. It does not leave the face sticky or wet to touch like some dewy or illuminating sprays do. The glow left behind is subtle, nothing that will leave you shining like a disco ball!

Does it set my makeup in place? Incredibly well. As mentioned before I have tried and tested this spray. I tested this spray at a wedding, it was a morning to evening wedding. I did not touch up throughout the day and at the end of the night my makeup was still in place. When I looked closely none of my makeup had faded or smudged, it really did lock my makeup in as stated.

One thing I noticed and loved was that it also kept my makeup looking fresh. My makeup looked the same as when I first applied it. I think the dewyness does a good job of refreshing makeup, which would be ideal for touch up spritz during the day.

I also tested not wearing the spray to see how my makeup wears throughout the day in comparison. My makeup stayed put as I powdered everything in place however towards the end of the night my makeup did start to fade, I had to re-apply my highlight and blush for example.

I have combination skin, I have an oily t-zone whilst the rest of my face is dry. Although my oiliness does come through on my forehead and chin I tend to powder these areas on top of the setting spray and my makeup still looks good, no cakeyness or build up.

The spray comes in two forms, dewy and matte so if you have oily skin you can opt for the matte option. As for the packaging it is very standard when it comes to a spray. It is a plastic black bottle with a plastic cap covering the nozzle. It's good in size however, easy to stick in your bag or stand up in your drawer.

For £7 I think this product is a key product to locking your hard work into place and as my test shows it really does so!

Are there any other NYX products that I should try? Let me know any of your favourites down below!
