Glow, highlight, strobe, 3 words that can make me turn my head. Laura Geller's 'gilded honey' was a product that did just that, everyone raved about the gorgeous special glow it gave but the price was putting me off.

I was browsing Beauty Bay and I saw a diamond shine amongst the dirt - the Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator palette; 1 palette, 3 shades and only £22! Now for a little maths, that's £7.30 per highlighter which is a bargain! Of course the pans are smaller however considering a gilded honey single highlighter is around £21, this smaller size is more than half price.

As mentioned the highlighter palette consists of three shades, the bronzey 'Ballerina', the famous 'Gilded Honey' and the pretty 'Peach Glow'. My first impression of the palette were very good, the shades were not as near scary as they looked online. I don't tend to lean towards pink or bronze toned highlighters however the swatches below show just how subtle and gorgeous these shades are.

'Ballerina' was a shade I was quite scared about, I am fair skinned so putting a deeper colour to highlight seems bizarre but this shade is gorgeous. Ballerina is a light bronze shade that gives a lovely sunkissed glow, similar to a caramel shade. The colour is not over powering at all, it has the perfect amount of bronze to it and looks amazing above bronzer.

'Gilded Honey', well now I understand why it is so famous. It's the perfect gold shade - not too dark not too light. A champagne gold that imitates that natural glow perfectly. A shade that would compliment any makeup look and lots of skin tones.

Last but not least 'Peach Glow' which is the perfect name for the pink toned highlighter. The combination of the peach and the small flex's of gold it really brightens up the face and makes you look fresh. This shade would be ideal for summer, or even for the inner corner of the eyes.

The highlighters are the perfect texture, they are finely milled and pure glow - no chunks of glitter or shimmer. As the texture of the product is fine, you can layer it as much as you want without it looking patchy or caked.

I would recommend using a denser or smaller brush to apply these highlighters if you are using a brush, due to the swirl pattern and the texture (they are not super powdery) you won't pick up a lot of product if you are using a large or fluffy brush - something to bare in mind.

The only thing downfall in my personal opinion is the packaging, the palette itself is made out of what feels like cardboard. Compared to the quality of the highlighters and the standard of brand in general I did expect the packaging to be more high end. The palette does come with a brush however it is not pictured as I throw it away. It was a plastic double ended sponge applicator, personally I don't use small applicators (I don't think many people do) so it was a waste. The brush in the picture is a brush I used for the purpose of this shot, it is not the original brush! On the plus side as you can see above it has a medium size mirror which is always handy on the go or even when doing your makeup in your bedroom.

If you have tried this palette let me know if you love it as much as I do! Is there any other staple Laura Geller products I should try? Leave your suggestions down below!
