All About The Base / Real Technique's Expert Face Brush

When it comes to makeup the base can be the most important but sometimes the most difficult to get right. When I first got into makeup I struggled to find the right brushes that suited my style of base makeup which is natural, so today I am reviewing my all-time favourite base brush - the Real Techniques expert face brush.
The shape of this brush is great, it is very dense. The bristles of the brush are very short and firm compared to other brushes which the bristles can be long and fluffy. As the brush is dense and firm it is ideal for buffing and blending creams and liquids.
The Real Techniques website state the brush is ultra-firm which I believe makes this brush ideal for a natural looking base, you can really blend and buff the foundation or liquid product into the skin and control how much or less coverage you have.
The size of the brush is ideal, Real Techniques describe the shape as broad which is the perfect word. The width of the brush makes it easy and quick to use, a perfect not too big not too small size for applying foundation.
The website also states the brush is made to be used with liquids and creams so I put it to the test! I used the face brush to blend out my cream contour and it blended out great, no patchiness or difficulties. I did try to use this to blend out my concealer but personally I thought it was a bit too large for my small eyes!
I did mention how the bristles are short and not long and fluffy however the brush is super soft, not scratchy how some shorter bristled brushes can be. I have washed it with the Real Techniques brush cleaner, baby shampoo and oil and the brush has kept up amazingly. No real bristle fall out or obvious wear and I have had this brush for over a year!
Like all the other Real Technique brushes the expert face brush has a black bottom and vibrant orange handle, a sleek but fun looking brush. This brush is sold separately but is also part of their core collections brush kit. This is by far by favourite base brush and defiantly one of the best brush purchases I have made!
